Anthology Invitation
Osiyo!
My name is Amanda Hawk and I operate Hawkeye Publishing.
I am gathering NW resident Indigenous writers and artists to contribute to an anthology centered on the land, spirit, and biology of the NW. A book called the Cascadia Field Guide inspired this. Here is a link to that publication:
While feeling inspired by the Cascadia Field Guide, I am less inclined to create a "guide" and more a compilation of work in various formats focused on the individuals' perspectives in being a part of the Pacific NW. I want to be open to the artists that come across my path on this timeline and center their words, art, and experience - rather than a very specific outcome.
I'm collecting poetry, prose, photography, and art for a 9x6 paperback publication for sale on Ingramspark, and it will then be available to bookstores and libraries, as well as Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and other outlets. Newly written or previously published is great, and we’ll reference the previous pub on the page. The manuscript files will be hosted and shared on the Hawkeye Google Drive.
I will donate proceeds quarterly to Indigenous orgs and would love input from participants about their favorite organizations to support. I don't plan to offer royalties to authors for this project, but I will offer copies at wholesale pricing that each participant is welcome to sell for profit. I am planning to have this available to the public around the summer of this year.
I am asking the involved authors and artists to suggest others we might invite to collaborate. Feel free to share this page to artists and writers you know. I plan to have the process to be open to all contributors' input throughout the formatting of the manuscript.
Our current confirmed artists and authors are:
Cliff Taylor @cliffponca
Shilo George @shilogeorge
Rena Priest @renapriest
Kara Briggs @kara_briggs_mfa
Thank you for reading, please contact me if you are interested in submitting your work!
